I liked Mulberry’s Sadie Square bag at first site. I’d been looking to buy a bright coloured handbag and had decided upon getting one in green. Luscious grass green (as I call it) was one of the hottest colours of summer 22. Despite that fact that I wouldn’t normally consider buying a green handbag, I instantly took a liking to this shade of green because it’s an expression of my lifestyle.
The thoughts that ran through my mind when deciding whether to get the bag or not were, “Would I use it? Being green, would I get my money’s worth out of it? How would I style it?” Once I decided to buy it from the perspective of green being the colour of health and sustainability, my mind was made up. Green symbolises growth, abundance, new beginnings, freshness, renewal and life. All the things I’m aiming for in 2023. Whenever I carry my Sadie handbag, I’ll be reminded of my goals.
David gifted me this beautiful bag last Christmas. Nope, he didn’t walk into the Mulberry store and buy it because i’d put it on my birthday list months before. He’s long ago freed himself from the “agony” of trying to figure out what sort of gift his wife would like. As far as he’s concerned, I liked something in September doesn’t mean I’d still like that thing in December.
He put the money into my account and said, “get yourself something nice and save me the hassle of getting it wrong”. I’m pretty sure, if I ask him to get me a Mulberry bag, he’d buy the mini Alexa.
What makes Mulberry’s Sadie Square Bag special.
Ok, why do I like this bag? Well….. it’s a lovely chic little bag in an unusual square shape. Something people with style who don’t follow trends would buy. People like moi. Hahaha!
It’s structured, compact and tidy. Just like I am. It doesn’t gape at the sides when closed like the Lily Bag. It’s a classic design that won’t date. It can be carried as a top handle bag or crossbody which makes it easy for the times I decide to hop on the train. I also love it’s silver crossbody chain. I’ve been wearing more white than yellow gold jewellery recently, so this matches perfectly.
At 50+yrs old, my days of carrying big heavy day bags are over. I really don’t want to age lopsided.
I fell out of love with large handbags for my health.
The Sadie bag has a small internal slip pocket and two compartments. I can fit in my small make up purse, card case, packet of tissues and and IPhone. It measures H18cm x W16cm D8cm. The Top handle drop is 6cm and the shoulder chain drop 54cm. It’s made from beautiful Goat Print Leather, a bovine leather that has been embossed with a goat print.
According to Mulberry, “compact, and created with function as well as fashion in mind, the contemporary new Sadie silhouettes have been designed for elevated everyday styling”.
