My story today. I walked into the cycling class t My story today.

I walked into the cycling class this morning, looked at the program on the screen and thought, “s**t!!!! I’m going to absolutely hate this session and it’s going to be a struggle”. 

I must say, I’m not a fan of steady state cardio which is probably the reason why I don’t cycle outdoors. What attracted me to spinning almost 20yrs ago was the fact that it wasn’t steady state. 

The program today involved long blocks of steady cycling at threshold. Geeeeez! How was I going to give something I don’t like my my best shot? 

So, I sat on my bike and when our instructor asked if we were ready to give the challenging program a shot, I shouted, “nooooo!!!”. 🤣🤣🤣

Sometimes I marvel at what the force of habit makes me do. Getting off the bike and leaving the class was not an option because I’ve been spinning at that time on a Friday morning for almost 20yrs.  So, I stuck it out for 45 long mins cursing under my breath. 

I hear people say “only do the exercises  you enjoy”. That’s not my story. I‘ve been doing this class since lockdown measures were lifted and I can’t say I enjoy it. What I can say is, I’ve increased my functional threshold power. 

If you’re starting out, doing only the things you enjoy is good advice. After that, I’m not so sure. Maybe I’ll take that advice when I’m 80yrs old.

I remember a client I had once who called me every I remember a client I had once who called me every week even though we had no such agreement. 
She was so eager and excited for change, we spoke often. When things were rough she called. When she had success she called. Sometimes she called just to talk about her family. The first words that always came out of her mouth were, “even though I paid for…..I hope you don’t mind if we just have a quick chat.” 

She developed a love for fitness that transformed her life. She was like a breath of fresh air. That inspired me. 

The journey is not an easy one. However, your attitude can completely change how you experience it.

These are snapshots of 50% of what I did Monday-Thursday this week. After my workout today, I will be like, “Loooooord! I am grateful. You know there’s no way I could have taken a step without your help.” 

In him I trust, breathe, move and have my being.

It’s not for those who want to be chased all over the planet.
I’m currently reading about sleep. Did you know I’m currently reading about sleep. 
Did you know that, there’s no muscle activity during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep? 

Why is this? So that we don’t act out our dreams whilst sleeping. If the human body wasn’t programmed like that, imagine the mayhem that would be going on in the middle of the night. 😳

Last night, I dreamt I was on my way to a party wearing this jumper and as I was about to leave home my daughter said, “not THIS jumper again mum?” 

What did you dream about last night? 
Are you grateful the creator kept your muscles inactive during that time? 🤣
