London is the fashion capital of the world. A new group of very talented designers have sprung up in the last few years and they are fast gaining traction. The world is looking for affordable luxury. We want quality but we don’t want to pay overinflated prices for it. Aside from quality and design, these brands have grown rapidly quite frankly because there has been a wide gap in the market for mid range leather goods. I’ve curated 5 handbag brands that are up there quality and design wise and you won’t need to clear your bank account to buy them. Enjoy!
Danse Lente
Uniquely shaped and playful, Danse Lente designs are architecturally influenced. This London based label exploded the moment it was launched and has grown from strength to strength since then. Danse Lente bags are unique, fun and come in a variety of stand out colour combinations. They are sold in outlets all over the world including in Harrods, Selfridges and online at danselente.com.
Wandler
For a brand established in 2017, Wandler has had phenomenal success. Designed in Amsterdam and handmade in Italy, Wandler bags fit nicely into the growing mid range luxury handbag market. The Hortensia design (image above) was an instant hit. This is the design that caught my eye when I first saw it in Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge. Made out of Italian calf leather, Hortensia has a detachable long strap (the medium and mini versions) and comes in 3 sizes and several different colours.
I also love the Wandler AI bag’s discrete geometrical elegance!!!!! It has 3 compartments and can be hand held or on the shoulder with it’s detachable adjustable shoulder strap.
The Georgia Bag is a handheld elegant bag with a main compartment and one inner pocket. It comes with a detachable longer shoulder strap. Perfect for day or night.
Gianoi
The world’s first luxury ‘smart’ bag! I love!!!!
Put this on your company Christmas list for that top executive female client.
Charge your phone on the go, be notified of calls, messages and social updates when the logo glows, how cool is that?! The brand was founded by two brothers, one worked in tech and the other at fashion houses Alexander McQueen and John Paul Gaultier. All bags are handmade in Italy. Sold exclusively at Harvey Nichols and gianoi.com.
Gu_De
Another brand that’s very much in the fashion news is Gu_De. This South Korean label gets it’s inspiration from the 70’s. Think mini skirts and dresses, high waisted tailored flared slacks with top handle bags – all very now. Gu_De’s Italian leather handbags are affordable (you don’t need a month’s salary to buy one) and classic. They come with a detachable shoulder strap and have a signature lock closure. Sold in Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Browns, NetAPorter and gu-de-official.com
Yuzefi
Invest in a bag that says “always” and not “now” and you’ll be a member of the style focused (not fashion focused ) club. Not afraid to experiment, designer Naza Yousefi’s bags push the boundaries of handbag design and have introduced a fresh new perspective – a nonconformist world of limitless design possibilities! Sold all over the world and in Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Browns, Harrods, NetAPorter and yuzefi.com.
